5 Signs You Need to Eat More to Get Pregnant in 2025

If you’re trying to get pregnant in 2025 but your period is missing or irregular, I want you to know this: it’s not just a fluke. It’s not "unexplained." And it’s definitely not a lost cause. It’s a message from your body.

Your body is begging for more fuel, more softness, and more safety. Especially if you're navigating hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA).

The good news though? Pregnancy is 100% possible. Even without a period right now.

Here are 5 clear signs you need to eat more to support ovulation and conception in 2025:

1. You have strict rules around carbs.

If you find yourself mentally calculating how many carbs you’ve already had for the day, or avoiding bread and pasta unless you've "earned" them with a workout, this is a red flag.

Carbs are your body's preferred source of energy. And they’re essential for producing the hormones you need to ovulate and get pregnant. If your fertility goals involve restriction, it's time to rethink your approach.

2. You always stick to serving sizes—even when you're still hungry.

If you find yourself cutting sandwiches in half, eating ½ cup of pasta when you're still hungry, or having to measure out 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter to feel safe consuming it—you're likely under-eating.

Your body doesn't care about portion control; it cares about energy availability. Especially when you’re as active as you are, your body needs way more fuel than you realize to feel safe enough to get your period back, and then go on to get pregnant.

3. You never skip a workout—even when you're sick or exhausted.

If taking a rest day feels impossible, or movement is your main way to cope with stress, it could be costing you your period. Fertility requires surplus. You can’t run on empty and expect your body to feel safe enough to ovulate.

Movement should support your hormones, not deplete them. If you can’t take a rest day without extreme anxiety or guilt, it’s time to consider if this is contributing to your period loss and infertility.

4. The thought of gaining weight terrifies you.

You’ve been told to try gaining weight to see if your period returns—but it sends you into panic. You’re not alone. Every client I’ve ever worked with has had this fear. But postponing recovery out of fear only creates more pain and more delay.

You have to weigh the fear of weight gain against the dream of holding your baby. This is where our 1-1 coaching inside Premier Period Recovery for Fertility in a non-negotiable!

5. Impromptu date nights or takeout makes you anxious.

If spontaneous meals with your partner make you more stressed than excited, it’s a sign that food rules are running the show. Flexibility is part of a nourished, fertile life.

If you're canceling date nights or skipping meals to stay in control, it might be time to loosen your grip and let nourishment back in to reach your goals of getting your period back so that you can go on to get pregnant.

Here's What I Know For Sure…

You don’t have to live in fear of food or your changing body. You can get your period back, get pregnant, and still enjoy your life and your meals.

I know, because I’ve lived it.

When I lost my period after coming off birth control in 2014, I did everything except eat more. I tried to biohack my way to hormones. But the only thing that actually worked? Feeding my body, resting deeply, and addressing the fear behind the food rules.

Ten years later, I’m the mom of two healthy girls. And I’ve helped hundreds of women just like you get pregnant without fertility treatment.
